An outstanding Chinese scientist, Hailiang Yu, has become the head of the Zhilyaev Laboratory of Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials at Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. The university has won a mega-grant from the Russian Science Foundation for conducting fundamental research under the supervision of a foreign scientist. This was announced by the university's press service.

A Lecture Haiyang Yu, a professor at Central South University (Changsha, China), a long-time partner and friend of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, and one of the world's leading experts in metallurgy and materials science, who ranked second in the world in terms of citation among all scientists in 2024 according to Scopus, and is included in the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world according to Scopus and Stanford University.

As part of the V Congress of Young Scientists, a session entitled “Russian Science Foundation Megagrants: Russia as a Hub for Leading Scientists” was held. The Foundation presented the directions of the grant program, and the winners of the competition presented their projects and shared their plans for the future. The event showcased how the Russian Science Foundation Megagrant program strengthens Russia's scientific potential by combining international expertise with the capabilities of Russian laboratories.

The Magnitogorsk Materials Week is taking place in the city of metallurgists. Scientists from Russia, China, and India have come together at MSTU. The university is hosting an International Youth Conference, which includes a scientific school that has attracted more than 100 participants from all over the country and abroad.
