From April 16 to April 18, 2024, the XIV International Congress of Rollers was held in Cherepovets. The event brought together metal manufacturers, machine builders, research institutes, universities and engineering companies. Experts from various fields discussed technologies and equipment for metal production and processing, as well as other topical issues in the industry.

From the Zhilyaev laboratory Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials the industry site was visited by the head of the laboratory Georgy Raab , the deputy head of the laboratory Alexander Pesin, the head of the computer modeling department of the laboratory Denis Pustovoitov, the head of the technological department of the laboratory Ilya Pesin, senior researcher laboratory Olesya Biryukova and laboratory engineer Leonid Nosov.

The following sections were envisaged at the Congress:
• production of hot-rolled sheets;
• production of cold-rolled sheets, including those with coatings;
• section rolling production;
• production of pipes and bent profiles;
• hardware production;
• production of rolls and fittings;
• general and theoretical issues.

Alexander Pesin spoke at the plenary session, talking about the new effects of asymmetric rolling and their application in industry. Denis Pustovoitov made a report “New effects of asymmetric rolling and their application in industry” in the section “Production of hot-rolled sheets”. Ilya Pesin presented a report “Research on the possibility of producing cold-rolled strip from rolled stock of increased thickness using asymmetric deformation” in the section “Production of cold-rolled sheets, including those with coatings”. As part of the section "General and Theoretical Issues", Olesya Biryukova ("Research on the possibilities of regulating the properties of aluminum alloys during asymmetric rolling"), Leonid Nosov ("Development of a technological scheme for the production of stainless steel grade 20X13, allowing to reduce a number of technological operations") presented their reports and Georgy Raab  ("The influence of the parameters of the deformation zone on the refinement of the structure and the formation of properties during asymmetric rolling of metals").

In addition to the main program, Congress participants visited the production sites of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant and Steel Rolling Plant.
