April 3 in the conference hall of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, the traditional international scientific seminar "Magnitogorsk Materials Week" has already started. Its hold by laboratory "Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials. A.P. Zhilyaev" of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. The idea of holding such seminars was proposed by Professor Alexander Zhilyaev in 2018. Since then, scientific seminars have been held twice a year. Over the years, experts from different countries have acted as speakers at the conference, including the USA, Spain, Great Britain, India, Italy, China and Russia.

“Currently, there is a problem of attracting young people to science. Our seminar promotes the involvement of young people in the scientific environment. This is a very important step aimed at ensuring that science is always on top. Our task is to tell young people about what discoveries have been made and point out new prospects for the development of those scientific areas that were laid for them. We are interested in the student becoming interested in science as early as possible and the state supports us in this: various funds have been created, special grants and competitions have been developed aimed at attracting and supporting young specialists,” explains the head of the laboratory “Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials named  after . A.P. Zhilyaev, MSTU Georgy Raab.

This year, well-known materials scientists from Moscow, Ufa and Magnitogorsk will share their scientific experience with students and give lectures.

The school-seminar with a welcoming speech was opened by one of the organizers, Professor of the Department of Materials Processing Technologies  Alexander Pesin :

“I am happy to welcome everyone to our event. The seminar will be opened by professor Belov with a lecture on the system of self-locking cubes and talk about a new direction that has been successfully developing together with our university for several years. Last year we won a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. I hope this will allow participants to learn something new and then apply this knowledge to the industry.”

The second speaker was the head of the laboratory “Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials named after V.I. A.P. Zhilyaev, MSTU, Doctor of Technical Sciences Georgy Raab. Under his leadership, the largest grant from the Russian Science Foundation for world-class laboratories was won.

“The topic of my lecture is “Model of Structure Formation under Large Deformations”, it is related to severe plastic deformation, models and prospects for introducing such technologies directly into production. This year we won a large grant and within the framework of this project within four years we will create a number of technologies that will be in demand in modern production - this is already an applied direction of the science that we are developing, ”  said  professor Raab.

Also, lecturers will be Professor of the Ufa University of Science and Technology  Nariman  Enikeev  and employees of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University   Dmitry Konstantinov, Natalya Lokotunina .

We invite everyone to join the large-scale scientific event for the exchange of experience and scientific ideas at the Magnitogorsk Materials Week.
