At the international industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg, as one of the projects of the URAL INTERREGIONAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION CENTER FOR ADVANCED PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS of the Chelyabinsk region, a unique rolling mill was presented - it can be used to process metals, giving them special properties. Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University and Chermetinformsystems LLC took part in the creation of the development. The mill was built in South Korea according to the terms of reference of Russian scientists.

⁃The uniqueness of the rolling mill is that it allows you to deform metals in rolls, the speed of one of which can be ten times that of the other. In the closest analogue, in South Korea, the ratio of the speeds of the rolls does not exceed five, - the director of ChermetInformSystems, deputy head of the laboratory "Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials named after A.P. Zhilyaev" MSTU, Professor Alexander Pesin told RG.

Rolling on such a mill imparts amazing properties to metals. Usually, during cold rolling, the plastic properties decrease and further deformation requires heat treatment. Rolling without it is possible on the new mill.

In our country, for example, after 90% deformation of D16 aluminum, its plastic properties not only do not decrease, but increase, it can be further deformed without heat treatment. It is both strong and flexible at the same time. Such an important parameter as relative elongation doubles, - says the expert.

So, for example, with standard processing, four rolling and four heat treatments are required to deform aluminum D16 from 6 to 0.6 millimeters of thickness. With the help of a unique rolling mill, it is possible to achieve such parameters in one rolling without heat treatment, and also to continue the deformation of the metal even further up to 0.3 millimeters. Also, amazing properties have been experimentally confirmed for R6M5 tool steel (its hardness increases 3.4 times without hardening), 20XH13 steel (after 70% deformation, it can be crushed like plasticine) and other materials.

The uniqueness of the rolling mill is that it allows you to deform metals in rolls, the speed of one of which can be ten times that of the other.

⁃This is a new and very interesting direction, which allows you to save a lot, reduce production time, energy consumption, - says Professor Pesin.

According to the scientist, the removal of one cycle saves tens and even hundreds of millions of rubles. If the cycle consists of four rollings and four annealings, and we reduce it to one rolling, then the costs will be reduced by almost 90%.

Where is the metal that has undergone such processing used? For example, in mechanical engineering, aircraft building and other industries.

⁃ Industrial-laboratory rolling mill. It allows you to create new technologies. Both the university and ChermetInformSystems LLC, a small innovative enterprise engaged in the development and implementation of various technologies, are involved here. We receive new patents, conclude contracts for research activities, win grants. And also, we can produce small-tonnage products with special properties, - Alexander Pesin emphasized.

According to the scientist, the project is in great demand. Cooperation is developing with the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, many other industrial enterprises, universities, research institutes, scientists from China and India.

OOO "ChermetInformSystems" and Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University solve the problem related to the training of personnel. The departure of applicants is a big problem for the Chelyabinsk region. Thus, an idea appeared to support, for example, the winners of the Olympiads, who remain to study at local universities. In Magnitogorsk, according to the scientist's estimate, one hundred people could receive an additional allowance for scholarships - 15-20 thousand rubles a month - from various companies in the city and region.

In addition, schoolchildren already work at the enterprise and receive a salary: they conduct real scientific research. By the end of their 11th grade, it is planned that each will have a patent and three or four scientific articles - at this rate, by the fourth year they will have material for defending their PhD thesis.
