One of the organizers of this conference was the Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials Laboratory.

Everyone was impressed. Leading scientists of Europe and Asia and young scientists in metal forming completed their work at the 4th International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice 2019, taking place at Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University from June 4th to 7th.

For four days the participants followed a busy agenda. On the first day, a plenary session was opened with presentations given by well-known scientists from India, China, Italy, Poland, Belorussia, and Kazakhstan. On the second day, specialized workshops for young scientists were held. Thirty young participants from various cities of Russia, as well as Iraq and Myanmar, presented the results of their research in three workshops: "Cross-disciplinary solutions in advanced materials engineering", "Innovative technologies and materials in metal forming" and "Fundamental problems of metal forming in view of current needs of the global industry". All presentations of the first workshop were given in English only.

The participants note that such a non-conventional format of the conference is a unique advantage, as they can listen to reports of leading scientists and then present their own research to hear helpful comments and evaluations from benchmark scientists.

"I have been visiting many conferences every year and I can say that this is one of the most finely organized conference in terms of warm feelings people are provided, love and affection which is given by all people over here. And a very important thing is that this is a platform which is provided for future researchers, the people who will continue to develop technologies for further generations. This platform is important because it gives an idea of how to write a manuscript, to make a report, how to present and share the ideas, how to listen to ideas of other people, how to ask questions. This is a perfect platform for young researchers to share their knowledge among other people. Having received comments from other scientists, you may know what direction to move and what others think about your work. This is important. That is why this conference is a wonderful platform for such practice. Thank you, NMSTU, for such opportunity!" commented Puneet Tandon, Professor from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India).

Moreover, Professor Puneet Tandon could observe a progress of the conference, as he is a second-time participant.

"This year it becomes more globally natured, the geography of participants expands entailing a need for sharing a common language with everyone. Colleagues from India should come and participate in the conference. Thus, it will become a truly global event. This is also good for sharing knowledge, networking, making connections, so that we could communicate with colleagues from all over the world", continues Puneet Tandon.

A particular feature of Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice is an eventful industrial and entertainment program. A visit to the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, one of the largest metallurgical enterprises in Russia, left an indelible impression on guests. Many visitors have already been to metallurgical companies, but the Magnitogorsk Works really surprised with its size and divisions. Besides, NMSTU organized a city tour and a tour to picturesque areas around the outskirts. The guests said again that they could hardly find a better level of conference organization.

At a closing meeting, best reports of young scientists were named. Thus, the 1st degree diploma was awarded to Grzegorz Smyk, AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland). The second place was shared by Russian young scientists: Denis Voroshilov, Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk) and Daria Komkova, Institute of Metal Physics, the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg). 3rd degree diplomas were given to two participants as well: Akhmed Salim Oleivi Al-Khuzai, a post-graduate student of South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), and Alexander Gulin, NMSTU. Jury members acknowledged that it was rather difficult to choose only three winners.

Best speakers received prizes and invitations to publish their papers in journals, information partners of the conference, indexed in Scopus and included into the List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific publications (Ferrous Metals, Vestnik of NMSTU, and Mechanical Equipment of Metallurgical Plants). Moreover, best reports were selected in individual nominations.

"This conference becomes a very good scientific tradition, especially for young scientists. All of you study various aspects of metal rolling and processing, but all of us serve the only one main idea, we serve science in general. First of all, all presentations were very interesting. As for my workshop, all presentations were in English and it is important to mention, because the English language is the language of science. And you as scientists chosen this direction to be your activity in your life should enlarge your borders of knowledge. From year to year presentations in English become more and more interesting. I do not want to mention just one or two presentations, because every presentation is a result of hard work. Thank you, everyone!" said Marina Polyakova, Professor of NMSTU, a moderator of the workshop "Cross-disciplinary solutions in advanced materials engineering".

Closing of the conference is meant to be opening of new research. The participants share contact details, communicate and prepare future join projects.

"My research is devoted to severe plastic deformation of magnesium and its alloys. In particular, at this conference I gave a speech on new methods developed by our Institute of Metal Physics in the Strength Research Laboratory. I liked the conference very much, especially foreign speakers. Listening to lectures from leading scientists is very interesting! Here I received an invitation from dear colleagues from Poland to take part in the youth conference, which will be held in Poland this autumn. This is also of interest for me. One more thing, at Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice it took one day for young researchers to present their papers, and I would like to extend this part of the event", said hopefully, with a smile, Daria Komkova from Yekaterinburg, holding her 2nd degree diploma of Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice 2019.

Next year the organizing committee intends to hold the conference fully in English.
