Yekaterinburg hosted the annual international industrial exhibition Innoprom-2022, its theme is Industrial Transition: From Challenges to New Opportunities.  Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University also took part in the large-scale event.

Innoprom is the main industrial, trade and export site in Russia. Every year it is visited by thousands of businessmen and politicians. About 500 exhibitors from over 30 countries take part in the exhibition. Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, along with everyone else, presented his advanced developments.

At the exhibition, the scientific and innovative ecosystem of the university is represented by leading scientists of the unique laboratory “Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials named after A.P. Zhilyaev. They are working on the creation of new industrial technologies for asymmetric rolling of metals, which make it possible to provide unique properties of rolled products while reducing energy consumption in the process of its deformation,” said the vice-rector for scientific and innovative work of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University Oleg Tulupov.

At present, the creation of metallic materials with an ultrafine-grained structure or nanomaterials is considered all over the world as one of the key areas of technological progress. According to scientists, cold-rolled sheets produced using new technologies for asymmetric metal rolling with simultaneously enhanced strength and ductility characteristics can be used in the automotive, aviation and space industries. A new type of metal will make it possible to lighten any structure by weight, while it will remain a fairly durable product.

In addition, at Innoprom-2022, specialists from the innovative subsidiary of our university, R&D Magnitogorsk State Technical University, will present their developments of high-tech modern digital solutions for the metallurgical industry.

“We showed visitors to the exhibition a digital twin created by university scientists for the air-cooling section of Mill 170 of the long section shop of PJSC MMK, where sorbitized wire rod is produced. This digital twin is a computer geometric copy that allows you to simulate the actual operation of the mill in different technological scenarios. Representatives of EvrazHolding, Novostal-M and other guests of the exhibition became interested in this development,” added Igor Lozhkin, director of R&D MSTU.

The company also presented projects based on machine vision technology - identifying people in hazardous areas, tracking the movement of personnel.

“The advanced developments of the scientific and innovative ecosystem of Magnitogorsk State Technical University are of great practical interest for the industrial sector, especially in the context of import substitution,” said Oleg Tulupov. “Meetings and negotiations with existing and potential partners are planned within the framework of the exhibition.”
